Huon District is the most southerly district in Southern Region and as such is the most southerly district in Australia.
The badge depicts an apple and was designed many years ago when the Huon Valley was the centre of the largest apple-growing area in Australia.
Although the total area under trees has not returned to the level of 1960, many new orchards are now producing large, high-quality fruit for the Asian market.
